Food of the Season - Ukadiche Modak

It's Ganesh Festival time and everybody seems talking about Bappa's favourite dish - Modak, especially Ukadiche Modak! We, at Khawakee, prepare Ukadiche Modak throughout the year and our experience over last few years tells us how much people long for (and want) this delicious item ONLY on Ganesh Chaturthi. Although from business point of view, it looks lucrative to get as many orders as possible, it is equally difficult to cater the requirement in one day. For the knowledge of our customers, would like to share some points from our own experience -

Ukadiche Modak taste best when served hot (just steamed). Hence, buying them in advance doesn't help. We recommend consuming steamed Modak within four hours for best taste and quality.

Two types of Ukadiche Modak are available in the market - hand-made and mould-made. Hand-made Modaks are highly demanded and the supply is never enough during Ganesh Festival, due to time and skill required for shaping the Modak with bare hands. (Mould-made Modak has a cover of rice-flour thicker than that of hand-made one. This leaves a taste more of rice and less of the stuffing, which most people don't like.)

We get the orders for Ganesh Chaturthi well in advance, and every year, we have to refuse run-time (walk-in) orders during Ganesh Festival. Knowing this disappointment from customer's point of view, we have been serving Ukadiche Modak throughout the year (on order only). Khawakee's Modak is much popular in Pune for its shape (hand-made, of course), taste (stuffing of best quality coconut and jaggery), and the way of serving (hot and steamy).

We have already stopped taking orders for this Ganesh Chaturthi. But, for other days until Anant Chaturdashi (or even beyond that), you can book your order through www.khawakee.com or 9552580321.
